The last time I emailed you, I received my broker's license but intended to remain in full-time ministry at The Village Church. However, the Lord determines our steps…and I closed the chapter of 14 years of vocational ministry this week.
The Lord opened the door for me to give you my full attention in real estate, and this next chapter will give me back my most valuable resource; time. The time to focus on serving you and giving my family the best of my time as my kids get older.
I sent this letter to our staff this week, and it captures my heart in desiring to leave well.
Serving this local church and community for the last 14 years in vocational ministry has been the greatest honor of my life. I walked through these doors at age 20 and could only dream that the Lord would graciously allow me to witness and receive his grace here. I met my beautiful bride, Ashley, and we have raised our three children here, who all professed faith and were baptized last year. The Lord has given me the desires of my heart, and I couldn't be more humbled and honored to be an instrument of his grace.
The decision to roll off staff was not the timeline we would have chosen, and I'm sorry if I missed catching you personally, but through a series of conversations and answered prayers that are undeniably from the Lord, it was clear that our time vocationally at TVC has come to a close. I had the opportunity to stay here and remain faithful with gladness in my heart, and yet I knew the Lord was calling me to a courageous decision for my family to step out in faith. My kids are growing up fast, and my family is my greatest treasure.
My prayer this next season is to give my family the gift of my time while focusing on one vocation.
The most beautiful part of this transition is that we get to stay at TVC and continue to partner with you in ministry. Most ministers rarely get the opportunity to remain with their faith family as the vocation calls them away, but we are eager and excited for all the Lord has in store for TVC, and we are honored to remain faithful here.
I do hope I leave staff well with a unified voice; I've never been more excited and hopeful for the next chapter in the life of TVC – it's the most excited I've ever been for what I believe the Lord holds in store for our future. I have personally had a front-row seat to Matt and Josh's leadership these last 14 years as they have entered into the darkest season of a person's life and ministry; failures, missed opportunities, ordinary graces, joys, and the highest of highs of leading the church toward the person and work of Jesus Christ. Though they are undoubtedly human, I hope you can trust that behind every closed door and external platform, big and small, their love for Jesus, you, our church, and the nations is one of the most humble and beautiful examples of faithfulness to the Lord. They are heroes of the faith, and I can't wait to champion them in this next season.
I leave with zero regrets about my service and faithfulness to his church and trust the Lord to provide for you exceedingly more than you could ever ask or imagine. You are a beautiful instrument of grace to the bride of Christ, and I pray you find deep joy and love in Christ.
May the Lord bless and keep you and cause his face to shine upon you.
Thank you for following the story the Lord is writing on our lives, and we can't wait to see all he has in store in helping you find your sacred space in Texas!
